No Grill? | Feast in Your First Apartment with Precooked Ribs ›

Have you tried Tony Roma’s precooked ribs? If you’re living in an apartment or dorm, these juicy and delicious precooked ribs can be a lifesaver on those nights you’re craving barbecue and can’t manage the hefty price tag of a dinner out. They can also save the day if your barbecue plans get rained out.

What makes a barbecue so special, anyway? Is it the games with friends, the savory taste of barbecued meats or the comfort food element of familiar side dishes? You can bring all those wonderful things inside, with board games, precooked ribs or pulled pork, and side dishes galore. In fact, if you’re throwing an indoor barbecue, it might be fun to have a potluck, asking your friends to bring side dishes to share, so that you can have variety and learn what everyone likes. If you’re convinced that the outdoor nature of the barbecue is the biggest selling point, but you live in an apartment or dorm, make the common green space or your own balcony or courtyard a relaxed spot for fun.

Who says you need a grill to have great barbecue? Tony Roma’s precooked ribs are easy to prepare in your own kitchen. In fact, you can even make them in the microwave! If you’re not a fan of the microwave, an oven works just as well, and you can use the broiler to bring out that authentic Tony Roma’s flavor. An indoor grill is also a great option for those times you decide to barbecue inside.

Tony Roma’s makes barbecue easy, with precooked ribs, pulled pork and chicken, all simple to put on the table in about 20 minutes. Pools & Pre-Cooked Ribs | Is There Really a 20-minute Rule? ›

pre-cooked-ribs-and-poolsDo you ever eat ribs poolside? Tony Roma’s pre-cooked ribs are the perfect snack, whether you’re lounging by the pool or going for a dip in the lake. Just make sure you wait at least 20 minutes before getting back into the water, just like our moms taught us. Right? Wrong! Wise though our mothers may be, this is one safety rule that you can toss.

How did this rule come into being, anyway? The idea behind it is not a bad one. Drowning is a major cause of injury and death around the world, and after you eat, blood and oxygen are directed to the digestive system. The cramping that could result from physical activity while your body is engaged in digesting could kill you! Or could it?

In fact, the biggest reasons for accidental drowning are a lack of swimming capability, poor supervision of children and a lack of barriers around the pool. So how many drownings are caused by swimming on a full stomach? None! According to the Washington Post, there’s never been a documented case of drowning caused by swimming with a full stomach. In fact, competitive swimmers often eat before they swim because they need the fuel.

Of course, for a less-experienced swimmer, cramping can happen if vigorous swimming occurs right after a meal. If you’re just relaxing in the pool, however, you should be fine if you’ve had something to eat right before you go in. One caveat: don’t drink alcohol with your poolside meal. Up to 70% of water recreation-related deaths in adults and adolescents involve the use of alcohol. It’s best to play it safe and wait to drink when you’re not around the water.

Now that you know you’re in no immediate danger if you eat before you swim, let the snacking begin! Tony Roma’s pre-cooked ribs are great on their own or used in your favorite summer recipes. Barbecue for Brunch | Pre-Cooked Ribs for Any Meal ›

pre-cooked-ribsIf you’ve tried Tony Roma’s pre-cooked ribs, they’re likely one of your favorite meals. Versatile and succulent, they are the perfect choice for lunch, dinner, and snack time or … brunch? Believe it or not, pre-cooked ribs and other types of barbecue can be a delicious addition on your brunch table, especially when prepared in these tempting recipes.

  • Baby Back Ribs Eggs Benedict can be made with leftover pre-cooked ribs. For this recipe, you use enough ribs for two, and heat them in a 350° oven before shredding the meat. While the ribs are warming, make hickory-hoisin sauce by mixing 2 parts hickory smoke and 1 part hoisin sauce. Toss the meat lightly in the sauce and set it onto a couple of slices of corn bread. Poach eggs, cracking them gently into a pot of simmering water, along with a couple of teaspoons of white vinegar. Remove the eggs from the pot after about two minutes, using a slotted spoon and placing them on top of the porch. Top with sliced scallions, if you’d like.
  • Short Ribs Tacos can also be prepared simply with pre-cooked ribs. If you want to go all out, you can prepare your own grain-free tortillas as explained in the linked recipe, but using pre-made tortillas makes it even easier. What could be more delicious than ribs shredded, put into tortillas, topped with sriracha mayo, avocados and shredded cabbage?
  • Pulled Pork Hash is easy and delicious. Simply melt a tablespoon of butter in a saucepan and sauté half a red onion before adding about 8 ounces of pulled pork. Dice 2 leftover baked potatoes and add them to the mixture, cooking for about five more minutes, or until potatoes are browned, stirring occasionally. Season with salt black pepper, and, if desired, cayenne pepper.
  • Leftover Pulled Pork with a Fried Egg is a perfect brunch for one. What’s involved? Just what the name says: an egg, fried in one teaspoon of olive oil, served with leftover pulled pork that you’ve heated while the egg was frying. The combination of flavors and textures makes this a delicious treat.
  • Pulled Pork Breakfast Skillet is gluten-free and dairy-free. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan, then add half a sliced onion and cook until translucent before adding half a tomato, thinly sliced, and cooking for a couple more minutes. Add ¼- ½ cup of pulled pork and 2 tablespoons of canned beans, mixing together before forming 2 “nests” in which to crack 2 eggs. Crack the eggs into the pan, reduce heat to medium low, and cook until the eggs are set. Top with fresh chopped herbs and, if you aren’t concerned about it being dairy free, 2 tablespoons of cubed feta cheese.

No matter what time of day you’re craving barbecue, Tony Roma’s is there for you, with pre-cooked ribs and pulled pork you can pull right out of your fridge. Easy, convenient and ready to put on your table in about twenty minutes, Tony Roma’s barbecue is delicious and filling.
